Fall Heirloom Wheat Planting

Event Details

When the pandemic began, we took the opportunity to reimagine our wheat program. We wanted to continue to help Christians create deeper ecological connections to communion practice and its agricultural roots, and we realized we could do this best through experiential education. Our updated Heirloom Wheat Series will provide opportunities for leaders and learners to explore wheat as a sacramental element. The series will include reflections on core texts, meditative planting and harvest experiences, and place-based education including both the environmental and community aspects of heirloom and small grain agriculture. If you want to see wheat with new eyes on and off the communion table, you are invited to join in one or all of these experiences.

This new series kicks off with Fall Heirloom Wheat Planting on Thursday, September 22, 9:30a.m.-1:30p.m. at the farm. The $75 program fee includes lunch and materials - including local flour - to extend your learnings to your household and/or church community.
