Backyard Mushroom Cultivation

This workshop will go over the basics of outdoor, low-tech edible mushroom cultivation using straw as a growing medium or substrate. As well as briefly discussing other types of methods for home mushroom cultivation.

Each participant will get to create and inoculate their own oyster mushroom growing kit. Given proper care the kits will produce a few pounds of mushrooms over the following weeks.

Presenter Bio: Chris Swinson has been growing mushrooms as a hobby and commercially for almost 20 years. He regularly teaches classes on mushroom cultivation, wild mushroom identification, and fungi in general.
