Our Farming Practices

Take Care of the Land and the Land will Take Care of You

Our farming practices prioritize the health of the soil, the diversity of life on the farm, and the community’s role at the farm. We aim to till as little as possible and never to spray any herbicides or insecticides on the farm. We strive to implement conservation practices that enhance ecological diversity in order to promote greater health and stability of the land and its resources.

We also farm on a human scale with limited use of large equipment and machinery. Farming in this way allows us to invite more members of our community to join in the good work of growing food. People who come to the farm receive a direct connection to the land and a direct connection to their neighbors.

As of 2019, the Farm is MAEAP (Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program) verified and compliant with the FDA’s FSMA produce safety rules. We are currently exploring organic certification as an option to continue to grow better. We believe the farm should be a place where people are needed and belong. We welcome you to visit the farm at any time during our hours of operation and we’re happy to share any aspect of our farming practices and approach.
